Blue Goose Pasta Sauce
Blue Goose Market in St. Charles, IL, offers some excellent jarred sauces. This smoky bacon flavored sauce worked really well with some fettucini fini that I tossed with a little sauteed onion and grated parmesan!

Norton's Produce Farm
Got some gourds and a last batch of tomatoes at Norton's Produce Farm in St. Charles, IL.
I'm really going to miss fresh, local tomatoes but I will be reviewing plenty of canned vegetables soon!

Kramer's Salsa
Found a jar of Kramer's Salsa at the local grocery chain, and in my quest to support Midwest food producers, I just had to try it out. It had a wonderful rich tomato taste and just enough heat for my kids, but I might try out the spicier version for myself next time. I also liked that it wasn't over-salted, which is the case with so many cheap salsas.
(Note--yes, my first two posts have been about salsa, but I have other foods coming......I'm not changing the site to "Midwest Salsa Review" anytime soon).

Hair of the Ferret--Great salsa from Indiana
Each time I visit the Naperville, IL farmer's market, I try to pick up a jar of Hair of the Ferret salsa. It's got a fresh, spicy taste and is from a company in NW Indiana. You may be able to find it in Chicago-area grocery stores; I can pick it up at Casey's Foods (Naperville & Western Springs, IL).
